I've been watching Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. It's both a Reality Show, with all the watching-car-crash that implies, and a makeover show.
I think one reason I'm so fascinated is that the show makes me think about my own leadership skills. What gets a restaurant back on track? Focus: paring the menu down to fewer choices. Quality: improving quality of food sources and preparation techniques. Management: be willing to hold delegates accountable, in the case of the show, be willing to yell at them and cuss them out. Control operating costs through conscious choices. Work. Get your head in the game.

Links of Wordpress tips
Getting NextGen gallery to link to page, not itself.

or: jackplug which looks like it might be a better solution, since it makes an alternate template with corresponding shortcode. perhaps this wouldn't break on plugin update. I think I'll try this first, for my current client. It could be used along with the nextgen additional fields plugin I think, if I didnt' want to dedicate the alt-text to linking. I like that it seems to make it possible for to have both options available on a single site: a usual nextgen lightbox gallery, and a linking to page gallery.
Here's a good looking gallery of larger thumbnails.

Here's an interesting edit for single image linking for NextGen, from the same site.

DevOps Borat
One of the presenters at the Eclipse Conference pulled up DevOps Borat in several of his slides.
They were wicked funny.
Looking at the twitter feed, I don't get all the jokes with out the context the presentation provided. I think DevOps Borat will be my nutty professor on industry culture.

Child Theming
My first brand-new wordpress project in a couple years, as opposed to ongoing projects or conversion projects. I'm excited to be using child theming. It makes sense.
Once again, the codex is clear and well-written and helpful. Wordpress Codex page on Child Themes.
I'm going to be reading this, see if there are any tricks I missed. http://themeshaper.com/modify-wordpress-themes/
